ABSTRACT

This study was carried out to examine the role of health agencies in the promotion of health with special reference to the national primary health care development agency (NPHCDA) Lagos State. Specifically, the study  examine the challenges of health agencies in the promotion of promotion. The study also find out the benefit of health promotions. Lastly, the study investigate the role of health agencies in the promotion of health. Lastly, the study. The study employed the survey descriptive research design. A total of 30 responses were validated from the survey. From the responses obtained and analyzed, the findings revealed that  the challenges of health agencies in the promotion of promotion are a lack of patients' motivation to make lifestyle changes, insufficient reimbursement, a lack of proven effectiveness of interventions and a lack of overview of health promoting programs in their neighbourhood. Also,  the benefit of health promotions is that it empower individuals to make healthier choices, reduce their risk of disease and disability, improve quality of life and improve the availability of healthcare and related services. Lastly,the role of health agencies in the promotion of health are to teach the variety of experience for purpose of improving attitudes, knowledge and practices relating to health, Create awareness on health related issues and to teach the students the importance of health and to all intelligently in conformity with its awareness. The study thereby recommend that health agencies should be adequately funded and health promotion programmes should be included in the budget. Lastly, the study recommend that the authority of the health agency should reconsider their leadership style to enhance networking with teachers, students, community, government, significant  individuals and  NGOs, researchers and clinicians .
